Plaid and Leather

This week's Style Me Friday inspiration is plaid. I wore plaid  here on Sunday and kept it casual. I also wore plaid with a blazer I made and style it with a grunge look. Today I decided to continue with the plaid and leather look.

Have a great weekend and make sure to check out the other ladies plaid looks!

The Show Must Go On

Eboni is off enjoying her vacation in Cabo but according to Trina from Baby Shopaholic, the show must go on. :-) Trina chose vests as this week's Style Me Friday inspiration. I have a vest. I actually have a few vests. I have a moto vest, a blazer vest, a few denim vests, and some sweater vests/cardigans. I'm working on getting a utility vest, one day.  A vest is a pretty easy piece to style. You usually just layer it over or under something. Or so I thought. Just because you have the pieces doesn't mean a new look would come to you instantly. I actually styled my look at the last minute last night after work. I decided to go with a leather and denim look and I kept it simple by wearing all black. Casual and comfy with a little edge. How do you wear your vests?

Ready For Fall

I know we still have about 5 weeks before Fall officially starts but I'm ready for it now. I'm excited to wear layers with sweaters, button ups and blazers. The Bay Area doesn't seem to know the correct season and the temperatures have been going nuts. It's cooler than usual in the morning then it warms up late afternoon and then drops back down as soon as the sun sets. This is probably why I'm ready for Fall. Are you ready to transition into Fall yet?

Happy Friday!! This week I am participating in Real Girl Glam's challenge of denim cutoffs. I think most women if not all own at least one pair of cutoffs. I have about 3 or 4 pairs that I cut from jeans when I needed a pair of shorts in a hurry. Have you done that? Cutoffs are versatile and can be worn dressed up or down. Usually when I wear a pair, it's in a pretty casual manner and I pair it with sneakers, sandals or oxfords. This time I decided to dress it up a bit and paired it with some pumps and a blazer and my fav Beatles tee. I wore this tee a lot when I first bought it and it's still in good condition. Yay! How do you style your denim cutoffs? Hope you all have a great weekend!!

It's the middle of the week already and I feel like this week is going to be a quick one. I hope the weekend doesn't move as quickly though. Today's look is pretty casual with a floral crop top that I cut from a vintage Gap dress and a pair of cropped khakis the same color as the flowers. I added my perforated oxfords to the bunch. :-) Is your week going by quick enough for you?

Yes! I'm wearing a dress. I do wear them from time to time but sometimes I feel like I have to work extra hard at behaving like a lady. You know, cross your legs when seated, make sure your behind is covered when sitting down so not to give a peep show, etc. etc. Maybe I should take an etiquette class? Nah! I'm not that bad. I know how to be a lady without trying. At least I think I do. You would tell me otherwise right? Anywho, here I am. In a dress. with boots. and a studded denim vest. oh yeah! with. my. friend. Owl.
I was going for a dainty biker babe look or a edgy meets prim and proper or just me! And no, I'm not going anywhere. I'm just wearing a dress. ;-) So, what do you think and how did I do?

Up and Down

Monday I shared with you guys on how to make a pair of cuffed track pants. Today I'm showing you two ways I styled them. I dressed them up with heels and a studded sweatshirt which is also DIY. This look can be worn to an evening event such as a date night. I dressed them down with a pair of high top chucks and a graphic tank. This look is good for an outdoor event such as a hip hop in the park festival. Because the pants are casual both looks work well. Which look do you like best?

Gone Corporate

It's Hump Day! So far so good. Today I decided to dress it up a bit and go corporate style. As I've stated previously, I do not dress up unless it's mandatory. Sometimes I get in a girly girl mood and dress up just because. Today is one of those days. Here's something I would wear if I had a stricter dress code.

You would think corporate women were mean and didn't smile based on my poses. :-)
Do you have to dress professional where you work?

All Black Everything

I went to the Brandy and Friends concert last night with Mel and it was really good. I felt like her set could have been longer but we enjoyed ourselves nonetheless. Both Mel and I wore all black. You can never go wrong with that. Here's my outfit.

Mid-Week OOTD - Blazing

I love blazers! I mean, really. You can wear them with anything and it can help make the outfit pop. You can wear one with shorts, skirts, dresses, leggings, pants, jeans and even sweats. It's so versatile. It can make your outfit fancy, chic, and casual cool. I have about 6 blazers total but I don't think I'm done yet. The red one is my favorite as you can see. I think red just looks good on me. I still have my eyes out for a white tuxedo blazer and a another pop of color. Maybe something soft like peach or mint green. And probably a few more. Here's what I wore with my blazer to work today.

DIY: Pencil Skirt

Today's DIY will showcase a pencil skirt. I was inspired by Mimi G. from LA. Check out her blog here. She has mad sewing skills. I want to be like her when I grow up.
