Number 82

Happy Weekend I've been searching for the perfect number tee for a while now and I found it a few weeks ago at Forever21. This number tee has a loose boxy fit and cuffed sleeves which is perfect for my tomboy style and it would have been awesome if I was able to find number 78, the year of my birth, but I didn't. I did spot a number 79 tee but I didn't really like the look of it and I could have easily just made my own tee with some iron-on numbers or number stencils and paint but this was something I wanted store bought. I kept my look simple by styling the tee with a pair of black ankle pants, which I cuffed and one of my favorite black oxfords. Simple, easy, and on trend with the black and white.
Do you have a number tee? How do you style it?

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great Sunday and enjoyed Mother's Day. We went to the movies. Mel and I watched The Great Gatsby. My son watched Iron Man 3. He said to me, "Mom, I'm not interested in that movie. I said it was cool for you." Hey, I tried! Anywho, Carey, Leonardo, and Toby were awesome! (I'm pretending like I know them personally.) The movie was over 2 hours long and well, you just have to see it for yourself. In spirit of Mother's Day I decided to do create a mixed print look and went with stripes and florals. The floral ankle pants are from J Crew and the striped cardigan is from Forever 21. Both pieces were under 5 bucks from Goodwill. Score! The ankle booties are a DIY project that you can check out here. The statement necklace is from Lydell NYC and I won it in a giveaway from Anngelik over at Vogue and Heels. (Make sure you check out her blog. She puts together great outfits and she also loves florals). The necklace has 3 mint stones surrounded with crystal diamonds. It's a pretty serious piece of jewelry and I don't own many, which is why I wear the same 4 that I own, but I like it and am happy that I won something since I never ever win anything. At first, I thought the outfit was cute, then I didn't like it, then I felt like who cares, and then I like it again, a little. It's only clothes and I'm having fun putting new and different pieces together since I've began blogging.

Did you do anything for Mother's Day? Will you be checking out The Great Gatsby anytime soon?

Goodwill Thrifting

This past Saturday, Goodwill Stores had a 50% off sale on all apparel and shoes. I haven't been thrifting in a while so I spent my day digging for treasures. I mean, literally the entire day and night. I started at 9 right after my dentist appointment, which by the way, I will have one final appointment for in July. I went to about 4 different Goodwills. I was the last customer in one of them. I also stopped at Buffalo Exchange as they were having a dollar sale on select items to benefit the Humane Society. There were some cool digs but you couldn't try on anything and I didn't like that so I didn't purchase anything from there. I also took a break halfway through the day and chilled with Mel at the Berkeley Flea Market. We ate shrimp and chicken roti from the Caribbean food vendor. It was my first time having one and it's so good. It's thick and very filling. Okay, back to the haul. I scored 16 items for a total of $59. Is that a steal or what? :-) Here are my finds.

Light pink blazer. $6.99

Old school denim blazer. This jacket is big on me but I couldn't pass it up.
I will be altering it myself and I can't wait until it's done. $4.49

Casual Corner teal blazer. $3.99

The back of the blazer has a small hole but I really like the color so
I am going to cover it up with lace from a curtain that I found for 99 cents.
Finished jacket coming soon.

Forest/tree bark patterned utility jacket. It has small holes here and there but the ruggedness
of it is appealing. $5.49

Ann Taylor Loft red orange dress slacks. I love the gold button embellishments.
$4.99

J Crew floral ankle pants. My first item by this brand. $4.49

Gap cobalt blue broken in khakis $4.49

These are capris that I will cut shorter to about a 5 to 7 inch inseam. $3.99

Bongo high-waisted jeans. Remember Bongo!?! (or am I really showing my age?)
$5.49

I found this vest for Mel. It would look good with a pair of dark blue denim
and some white chucks or cognac dress shoes. $2.49

Forever 21 navy and cream sleeveless cardigan.
I usually need a large in their tops but this fits really good. $2.99

Red green and white striped sleeveless button down.
I can wear this with some cut offs and boots. $2.49

Really colorful floral button down. I like the colors a lot. $3.49

Plain white crew neck tee. It looks pretty good for a white shirt from a thrift shop.
The white shirts I notice usually have stains or are off white. When I showed it to Mel she
thought I got it from somewhere else. $1.49

The last item that I bought was a red medium sized heart shaped bowl.
I put all of my bracelets in it. .99 cents

Do you like to thrift shop? Are there any pieces here that you like?

Mid-Week OOTD - Detached Collars

Hey there! It's Wednesday and it's time for my OOTD for work. I know I'm kind of late, but I really like the detached collar trend. You can buy it already made or you can make it yourself. It comes in different prints and patterns and with many embellishments such as studs, pearls, and diamonds. A few weekends ago, I went to a couple of thrift stores specifically to find some shirts that I can make my collars with. I found one with a nice print and one that was all white (yes it was both clean and white).
