Melswear: Celebrity Style

David Beckham

Jay Z
In keeping up with the topic of style crushes, we decided to do a men's style crush for this week's Melswear. Mel's top 2 favorite celebrity style icons are David Beckham and Jay-Z. David Beckham basically looks good in anything and his clothes are usually well fitting. Not to mention, he's kind of cute. ;-) Jay-Z has his own style without straying away from classic pieces. He's usually seen in neutral (white, black, or gray) tees and jeans. How can you go wrong with that? Who's your favorite male style crush?

Melswear: Joggers

Joggers

The men's wear item of the week is joggers. Joggers are one of the many pants that's currently trending in the men's urban street style. If you don't know what joggers are, the easiest way to describe them are as pants with elastic on the ankles. Kind of like sweatpants without the sweat or fleece. ;-) So it's a pretty relaxed and comfy pant. My favorite style of joggers is the leather pair. This style starts at about $600. That's pretty steep. It's available at Urban Outfitters right now. If you're able to get you a pair, it shouldn't be a big deal to throw an extra pair over this way, right? Well, hopefully there will be a pair in faux leather and for much cheaper so I can get a pair for Mel. Until then, I'll just look at this pretty board I made.

Melswear: Topman

I'd recently come across a men's online retail shop called Topman. I didn't realize it was the male version of Topshop. I love Topshop so naturally I would be a big fan of Topman. I saw these derby shoes on another blog and instantly fell in love. I showed Mel and told her that she HAD to get a pair. Mel approves! After window shopping on the site, I decided to create a board with 6 different looks using everything from Topman with these favorite derby shoes of mine as the main focus. Another cool bonus is that there are Topman shops in select Nordstrom stores just like Topshop. The nearest shop is in San Jose which is about a 40 minute drive from home. Sweet! I can't wait to check out the store even if I'm not buying anything for myself. Better late then never. :-) What do you think of the derby shoes? Which look is your fav?

Melswear: Clubmaster

Mel likes glasses like I do and she has quite a few pairs but she doesn't wear them as much because it's not really the style she wants. That style is the Ray Ban Clubmaster or the Malcolm X frames as I call them and it runs about $150 but Asos has some really cool pairs for $20. I styled today's look around this using shorts since Summer isn't quite over yet.  Are you a fan of rocking glasses? Is it prescription, for style, or both?

Melswear: Driving Shoes

Mel has been wanting a pair of slip ons or driving shoes for a while now so I decided to create this week's look based on that. I kept it casual cool with a tee and vest. How do you or your S.O. style your driving shoes?

Melswear: Cargo Shorts 3 Ways

Today's mens wear fashion piece is cargo shorts. There are many ways to style cargo shorts and I have styled a pair in 3 different ways. These looks can work for anyone out there whether your style is urban, preppy, cool, classic or a combination of them all. Which look would you or your partner wear?

Melswear: Blue Suede Shoes

I think everyone knows or have at least heard this song by Elvis Presley. 1 for the money, 2 for the show, 3 to get ready, now go cat go. Mel thought it would make a cool post title being that she was wearing blue suede shoes. These shoes are another pair of the oxfords by Skechers that Mel bought. This pair has a reddish pink sole instead of the bright yellow and it still cool. I hope your Thursday is going well and remember not to step on any blue suede shoes :-)

Please excuse the tip of my finger!

My Melswear model is back!! I'm not going to get overly excited but we reached an agreement of 1 photo session a month. It's not much but it is better than 0. I'm hoping I could push that number up to 2 times a month.
This week's look is styled around casual oxfords. Skechers has a collaboration with Mark Nason (who is that?) and the men's collection is really nice. Skechers are a really comfortable brand and you should think about getting your partner at least one pair. It's that comfortable and very stylish. Mel bought 5 pairs after scoring one on sale and now has 6. They also carry a few cute pairs in women's. How do you rock your oxfords?

Melswear: Chukka Boot

This week's men's wear look is centered around men's chukka or desert boots. Clarks chukka boots are versatile and can be worn in many different looks. Mel told me that she was taking a break from being my men's wear model. The funny part? She said a few months! Not a couple weeks, or 1 month but a FEW months. WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;-) It's okay. I'm just as into men's style as much as my own personal style and Thursdays' posts shall continue. Anywho, Mel styled her chukka boots this week by wearing a pair of olive colored jeans and a denim button up. Isn't the wooden watch awesome?

Melswear: Working Class

Melswear

Menswear Thursday is here and this week's Melswear is centered around the working class look. I created an outfit based on Mel's dress code at work which is business casual. I like that this look is not too business or formal and can also be worn outside of work. This can be worn to happy hour with co-workers or a quick dinner with friends. It's a simple look but these oxfords makes it a bit trendy. Plus they're comfortable! I know they're men shoes but I did try them on in the store. So light and airy. :-)
How's work going for you today?

Melswear: Camo

    photo bombed by my finger!

Happy Thursday! It's time for Melswear menswear. This week's look is based on mixed prints. The photos were actually taken a few months ago when we attended a fashion show and I guess I didn't get around to posting them and eventually forgot about it. I guess this post should have been titled Mel's lost files or something of the sort. Anywho, what do you think about mixing prints with camo?

Melswear: Red, White & Blue
Happy 4th!! It's Melswear menswear Thursday and this week's theme is red, white and blue in celebration of today's holiday. I created 3 different layered looks that could be worn today and of course any other day you choose. Which is your favorite?

Melswear: Day to Night

The week go by so fast and it's time for another Melswear/menswear Thursday. Yay! This week I centered the outfits around chukka and desert boots because I wanted to create something a bit more dressier. With the boots as my focus point, I chose a pair of dark wash denim as my day to night piece. The graphic tee gives the cardigan and desert boots a look in between casual and dressy. This could be worn for casual Friday while at work or while attending a day event on a Saturday. For the night look, I completely changed the top half with an classic white button up and colorblock blazer. I know that day to night looks usually include most of the same pieces but I only wanted to keep the jeans. The leather chukka boots, gold watch, and striped tie helped dress up this look. It could be worn to a dinner and a movie or maybe a Broadway show. All of the clothing items are from Zara. I love the selection of men's clothing that Zara carries. I'm always thinking of ways to make the pieces work for myself. Sometimes men's clothing are just better. :-)

It's menswear Thursday! This week's Melswear is a bit more classic and simple with the cuffed chinos and black and white high top chucks. I added a graphic baseball tee and some printed stance socks to add a pop of color. The wooden jewelry and denim vest topped off the finished look. Of course you can't forget a fitted cap and this one is cool because it has a black and white aztec print on the brim. Would you guys rock this?

It's menswear Thursday and I didn't get a chance to style Mel this week so I created a board. This is a cool weekend fit to just chill with some friends or maybe do a little shopping in the city. I kept the outfit casual and cool. Mel may or may not wear everything on this board(she went to bed early) but I'm almost sure she would. I like it and I even added a cap because it's what she loves. What do you think about this outfit?

Melswear: Maxed Out

We had to take a little break last week as there was too much going on but we're back with Melswear Thursdays. Mel went thrift shopping with me on Monday and this is one of the shirts that she found. It's a mint green oxford shirt by St. John's Bay which I believe is a JC Penney brand. We paired it with some cargo pants, southwestern belt, and air max sneakers. Mel included her signature piece with the basketball cap. Anyone can thrift shop and it's an awesome feeling when you're able to find something cool for less than $5.

Melswear: The Long and Short of It

Hey guys! Since the weather has been nice here in the bay, this week's outfit is focused on shorts. We chose a rose colored pair and styled it with a long sleeved gingham button up. To incorporate mixed prints, a patterned vest was added to give it a different look. We finished it off with a pair of all white chucks and a NY Yankees baseball cap. What do you think about this look? Are you guys ready for shorts weather?

It's Melwear Thursday and today's outfit is a special one. Why you ask? Because it my birthday!! *Round of  Applause* Oh, thank you!! Quick story. I went thrift shopping a few weeks ago and found an old school denim blazer that I just loved. The jacket was huge but who cared? I sure didn't. I figured I would either get it professionally tailored or take in it myself. When I showed Mel my goodies and told her that the jacket was a little big, she tried it on and it fit. It fit really well. A little too well. Mel then made the suggestion that I didn't have to get it tailored; I could rock it a little big like the camo jacket style. You know, so we can share. Usually I'm open to sharing anything with Mel but I did not want the jacket to be as big as it was, meaning I didn't want to share. Here goes the sad face. Okay we can share. Wait, no we can't. I'm sorry honey. I then take the jacket to an alteration shop and the little old lady tried to charge me $50! If I wanted to pay that much, I wouldn't be thrift shopping. I then decided that I would just take it in myself. When it comes to my sewing I take my sweet ole time to get started and finished so I have yet to begin the tailoring process. Fast forward to last Friday. We grabbed a quick dinner at Fresh Choice and I made a spontaneous decision to go to the thrift store down the street. :-) Lo and behold, what does Mel spot? The same denim jacket in a smaller size. Hmm, let's see if it fits. OMG, it fits! I think I like it, I really really like it. Wait, you just want the other blazer huh? You're not slick. But, hey we're both happy. Now you have to dress like me for my birthday! *Round of Applause* We chose some rust colored pants, striped tees, and red chucks. I added my bracelets, studded watch, neon belt, hoop earrings and a couple of necklaces to complete my look.  Happy Birthday to Me!!

I'm not doing anything special or going anywhere fancy because this right here is special enough.
What are your plans for your next birthday?
