Melswear: Blue Suede Shoes

I think everyone knows or have at least heard this song by Elvis Presley. 1 for the money, 2 for the show, 3 to get ready, now go cat go. Mel thought it would make a cool post title being that she was wearing blue suede shoes. These shoes are another pair of the oxfords by Skechers that Mel bought. This pair has a reddish pink sole instead of the bright yellow and it still cool. I hope your Thursday is going well and remember not to step on any blue suede shoes :-)

DIY: Lattice style t-shirt

Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend. This week's DIY project is all about the t-shirt. There are tons of ways you can restyle and refashion a t-shirt. One blogger who does an extremely awesome job is Anne from wobisobi. She has an endless list of t-shirt tutorials and my next project will be the t-shirt dress. Anyway I will be showing you all how I made a lattice style t-shirt. You can also use Anne's tutorial.
Supplies: v- neck t-shirt (I used a men's medium) scissors chalk or pencil ruler 8 mm studs needle and thread (optional)

Lay out the shirt and with chalk or pencil, draw a straight line across from under the v. Draw about 11 lines vertically in each shoulder area. Cut the lines. Stretch the cut pieces to get a tubular look. Create your pattern and apply the studs to hold in place. Since I didn't have enough prong back studs, I used needle and matching thread to hold the strings in place. I then applied iron-on studs throughout. This project was pretty easy and took about a hour or since I had to hand stitch a few strings together. Roll the sleeves to give it a more fitting look.

Please excuse the tip of my finger!

My Melswear model is back!! I'm not going to get overly excited but we reached an agreement of 1 photo session a month. It's not much but it is better than 0. I'm hoping I could push that number up to 2 times a month. This week's look is styled around casual oxfords. Skechers has a collaboration with Mark Nason (who is that?) and the men's collection is really nice. Skechers are a really comfortable brand and you should think about getting your partner at least one pair. It's that comfortable and very stylish. Mel bought 5 pairs after scoring one on sale and now has 6. They also carry a few cute pairs in women's. How do you rock your oxfords?

Back to life, back to reality. Happy Monday ya'll! This past weekend was relaxing. I didn't do too much but I did get dressed and I looked cute while doing it. I'm just kidding! I did some walking around town with Mel and enjoyed the warm weather. This blazer vest I made myself by removing the sleeves and sewing the edges. I tailored the blazer which was thrifted, to my shape so that it would be more fitting and kept my outfit funky by styling it with some destroyed cutoffs and a pair of floral Dr. Martens. Saturday evening we went bowling with some friends and had lots of fun. We were able to bowl about 3 extra games for free because the attendants weren't paying attention. Bowling usually becomes boring after 2 games but since we were sneaking in the extra games it made it more exciting and fun. How did you spend your weekend?

Melswear: The Long and Short of It

Hey guys! Since the weather has been nice here in the bay, this week's outfit is focused on shorts. We chose a rose colored pair and styled it with a long sleeved gingham button up. To incorporate mixed prints, a patterned vest was added to give it a different look. We finished it off with a pair of all white chucks and a NY Yankees baseball cap. What do you think about this look? Are you guys ready for shorts weather?

Melswear: Prep it Out

It time for Melswear Thursday! This week is centered on the preppy trend but with a little twist. I suggested Mel roll up her cargo khakis and prep it out with her outfit. She decided on a short sleeved white plaid shirt tucked in. I like the way she rolled up her sleeves. Makes me think of the movie Grease. All she's missing is a pack of cigarettes. Good thing she doesn't smoke. She wore red chucks and of course she threw on a fitted. Mel loves her caps.

While shooting for a post, my son states that he wants to be featured on my blog. "My blog? Are you sure? AND I get to pick out your outfit?" This was really surprising being that he isn't really open to anything that's "different". After his shoot, he then asks "am I going to be tagged? Will anyone see it?" Well, of course! Anyway, here's the finished look. He looks just like a teen model. My teen model. :-)

My son told me that he liked the outfit and that there wasn't anything wrong with it but he wouldn't wear it on his own.... Thanks son!

Happy Hump Day! I hope your week is going smoothly like mine is. The weekend will be here before you know it which is always good. As I frequently mention, I love stripes!! I decided to wear stripes again today. This striped top has both small and large horizontal stripes which I think is really cool.
