Rock the Boat

This week's Style Me Friday inspiration is pretty simple. It's the gray tee and gray is a neutral color that can be worn with anything. I wasn't sure how I would style my look for this week but after creating a polyvore board centered around the tee and what I currently have in my closet, I was able to finalize it. I kept it pretty simple and styled my tee with a tribal print bodycon skirt and some brown boat shoes. Casual yet cute! I  hope you guys have a great weekend. I will be starting it off with happy hour at Chevy's with a few friends and also enjoying the festivities of San Francisco Pride. Don't worry, I won't party too hard.

Short and Sweet

Friday's here! Phew!! Another Style Me Friday challenge for me this week. This week's challenge consist of short suits. It can be a matching suit or it can be a pair of shorts with a nice blazer. When I found out on Monday what this week's challenge was going to be, I smiled from ear to ear because I had just purchased my suit two days earlier. Great minds think alike! The suit I'm wearing is by MNG by Mango from JC Penney. It's a neutral color so I can wear it with almost anything and I like that the fabric is linen which is cool for the summer months. I paired it with a tribal print button up with the same colors as the suit and styled it with two different shoes. One way I added a pop of color with my red wedge pumps and the other way was with my all black perforated oxfords. For accessories, I kept it simple with a gold necklace, bangle watch and a few rings.

What do you think about short suits? Will you be wearing one this summer?

Gold Sequins

This past weekend was busy as predicted. Unfortunately, I didn't get to complete my sewing project but I did cut out the pattern pieces and pin them down to the fabric. It's a start! Saturday, Mel took two of her god kids to see the movie The Croods. It was so funny! If you have any children make sure you take them to see it. Even if you don't you should check it out. I think I was the loudest one laughing in the theater. Sunday was a beautiful warm day out in the bay. We spent the day outdoors and basked in the sun. Okay, we didn't bask, but we did enjoy the warmth. I decided to wear a skirt which I rarely do and I'm becoming more open minded about it. Here's how I styled my gold sequin skirt.

Did you do anything exciting this past weekend?

DIY: Destroyed Denim

I've noticed the destroyed and distressed denim being worn lately and wanted some for myself. This style of denim tend to run a little steep for a nice pair so I decided to create my own with some jeans already in my closet. The supplies I used were:
  1. Sandpaper (Dollar Tree)
  2. Tweezer
  3. Seam Ripper
  4. Scissors
  5. Xacto knife (Walmart - $3)

I used the tools in different areas until I was satisfied with the outcome. The sandpaper and xacto knife were used to get the faded look. The scissors, tweezers, and seam ripper were used to get the shredded look on the splits that I made. I sewed the diagonal split on the thigh and added gold studs.

I also wanted to give the shirt tied around the waist trend that celebrities have been doing a try.
Here's how I styled them together last night.

Have your peeps call my peeps

Do you own a pair of destroyed denim? How do you feel about the shirt tied around the waist trend?

Squared Away

Wednesday is here and it was very foggy this morning. Hopefully the sun will come out and brighten up the day. Today I went for the mixed prints trend. The prints I chose are similar but with different color schemes. Here's how I styled it.
