DIY: Gold Loafers

    |
gold loafers pose 1 {who is that girl mo?}
I haven't been wearing my silver glitter loafers so I decided to refashion it into something more wearable. I decided on yellow gold since there were quite a few pairs of metallic gold shoes that I've had my eyes on but wasn't willing to spend the money on. Now I have a new pair of shoes all for under $5.

Supplies:
shoes
paint
painter's tape
foam brush
bowl
textile medium (if using acrylic paint)
  • Apply painter's tape to areas of the shoe that you don't want painted.
  • Pour paint in bowl. Mix with textile medium if using acrylic paint. This will help to allow the shoes to be flexible and to prevent cracks.
  • Apply 2-3 coats of paint to each shoe with foam brush. Let dry for a few hours between coats.
  • Remove painter's tape.
  • *Optional* Apply acrylic sealer to shoes to help protect paint.

  24. you know, I always think about doing DIY projects but I know I don't have what it takes to even remotely make it look as good as the original DIY piece I'm copying. I really wish I had this talent. I do have a friend who does it all. Your shoes came out fab! Way to go!

  34. Great DIY, I tried this a few years ago and used the wrong type of paint...needless to say, it was a "cracked failure"!
